Mark is the founder of Coulters which is the culmination of his experience in the property industry spanning over twenty years. Mark has experience in London, Newcastle and in Edinburgh and has been a Director, of firms including Savills, Chesterton and Lindsays the latter of which culminated in being awarded the ‘Residential Property Team of the Year in 2012’ in the Scott & Co Legal Awards.
Ben has an in-depth knowledge of the Edinburgh property market, having worked in the industry for over ten years. Most recently, he was Head of Property Sales at UK top-50 legal firm, HBJ Gateley, where he managed the re-branding of its property sales division, increasing sales and improving customer service. He has experience harnessing innovative technology, having developed mobile property apps and our market-leading Open Book client portal.
Ross is a highly experienced solicitor with over 35 years in practice. He is currently Convenor of the Law Society of Scotland’s Property Law Committee and, for the past ten years, has been Chair of the Edinburgh Conveyancers Forum. Ross is the principal author of the Scottish Standard Clauses (the technical conditions for the sale and purchase of residential properties now used by the vast majority of solicitors in Scotland).
Alastair is a highly respected solicitor with 35 years’ experience of property law. He specialises in rural property, but has many clients on the urban side. After qualifying at Brodies WS he became a partner with Henderson & Jackson WS, and spent 28 years with that firm. Alastair is a Director of Lathallan School, Aberdeenshire and a Council Member of the Society of Writers to the Signet.
Louise is a Partner who specialises in residential property. She has many years of experience buying and selling residential properties and provides advice on all aspects of conveyancing and moving home. Louise undertook an apprenticeship (as it was known at the time) with Henderson & Jackson, before working in the diverse environments of Kirkwall and Glasgow. She then moved to Dundas & Wilson CS and thereafter to Olivers WS. In 2010 she moved, along with the rest of Olivers, to HBJ. In 2016 she made the move to Coulters.
Tara joined Coulters as a Paralegal but quickly moved into her current role of Operations Manager, to further utilise her 20+ years experience in residential property, lettings and global relocation. Tara applies exceptional analysis and process management skills to ensure that Coulters continues to develop as a business. She is responsible for improving efficiency, operations and customer service across the company.
Sophie joined Coulters in July 2014 and since that time has played a pivotal role in driving the sales team and assisting in the growth of the business. Sophie forms part of our experienced, dynamic agency team and she has developed an excellent reputation amongst our clients, as well as colleagues, for the high standards of client care and the effective results she delivers.
Sophie joined Coulters with a background in retail and hospitality, bringing with her exceptional customer service skills and an open and warm attitude. An Edinburgh local, she knows the city and its property market well. Working as a Lettings Manager, Sophie interacts with both Landlords and tenants ensuring everything runs smoothly on a daily basis.
Christina brings with her a wealth of academic and practical experience. She graduated with a LLB from the University of Glasgow before obtaining a Masters in Law at the University of Aberdeen. After her studies she has worked with a number of other firms as a paralegal, including Gilson Gray. Christina would now like to qualify as a solicitor and joins the legal team as a trainee.
Nikki is a qualified Specialist Residential Paralegal and has over 20 years’ experience in the property sector. She qualified from the University of Strathclyde in 2009. Nikki has worked for high-profile London firms such as Mischcon de Reya and Amhurst Brown Colombotti (now Howard Kennedy). For the past three years, she has assisted Ross MacKay in the Residential Team at HBJ Property. She now deals with sales, purchases, re-mortgages, transfers of title and all other types of residential property work.
As Property Administrator Caroline is the key contact for all of our clients. She has a strong knowledge of her native city, Edinburgh, where she was born and has spent the majority of her life. Her background is in IT Recruitment Sales, and with a strong interest in property and a keen eye for detail, she lets her knowledge of the property market and enthusiasm come across in everything she does.
Victoria graduated from Robert Gordon University in 2015 with a first class business management degree. During her studies she also completed a year-long placement working as a business analyst, developing an eye for detail. Victoria is keen to apply both her academic and commercial skills within the Property Market.
Becky joined Coulters in 2016 as a lettings administrator, after completing an honours degree in Psychology and Sociology. With a wealth of work experience within customer service based roles, Becky has a passion for working with people. Paired with the knowledge she has from her degree, she offers an approachable, friendly attitude when liasing with both tenants and landlords.
